Forged on an advanced aluminium substrate, “Pyramids of the Historical Golden New” takes the celebrated historical landmarks of Piper Street, Kyneton, on a sophisticated journey of optical illusion. Familiar architectural forms are meticulously deconstructed and reimagined with a new focal guidance that compels the viewer's eye across the canvas in varying, shifting vectors. Merging perspective, light, and memory, the composition captures the essence of a heritage town through a distinctly contemporary, structural lens. The dye-sublimation process fuses pigment directly into the metal panel, giving the deconstructed geometries and golden copper undertones a glass-like depth that appears almost backlit from within.
The work explores the dynamic tension between historic heritage structures and shifting optical perspective. A refined palette of washed golden copper tones takes on an extraordinary, pearlescent brilliance across the metal substrate—amplifying line clarity, deepening rich tonal contrast, and shifting dynamically as interior light changes throughout the day.
Palette & Lighting Behaviour
Core Palette: Washed golden copper tones, warm amber, and cool metallic underpinnings.
Daylight Response: Under natural morning light, the intricate, layered geometries assert themselves with crisp, sharp definition, creating a highly structured contemporary presence.
Evening Response: As evening ambient lighting takes over, the copper and gold undertones activate profoundly, casting a soft, radiating glow that brings a quiet, chameleonic warmth to the room.
Placement & Design Application
Ideal Spaces: Curated residential voids, luxury entryways, and considered commercial spaces.
Material Pairings: Dialogues seamlessly with raw textiles, exposed timber beams, industrial steel fixtures, and neutral plaster walls.
Visual Role: Functions as an immersive, commanding focal point that reflects the organic yet structured textures of the historic landscape.
