“Blossom Square Element 4” is the most intimate piece in the series — deep greens, dark shading, and mauve shadows rendered through a layered photographic lens to create a luminous, three-dimensional transparency that draws the eye inward. Part of the broader Blossom Square series, Elements 1–7 thread balanced imagery of Japanese blossoms together through distinct perimeter edging — an inversion of the traditionally soft blossom form, given a western colour treatment. The result is a merging of masculine and feminine that holds its own as a singular piece, yet deepens considerably within the full series.
