“The Pathway to Heaven” draws from one of Japan's most sacred landscapes — a torii gate pathway rendered in a layered, atmospheric composition that transforms sacred architecture into something transcendent. Blazing vermillion and amber gates cut vertically through a canopy of electric blue, cobalt, and deep teal with an energy that is both ancient and alive. Stone steps recede upward through a fractured, snow-dusted field — as though the pathway leads, quite literally, somewhere beyond. The work hinges on a striking spatial paradox: the rigid, centuries-old geometry of Shinto architecture anchors what would otherwise feel like an ethereal, floating realm, balancing structural reverence with dynamic, gestural energy.
